About the event

Witness the wonder of the magical Tree of Light at its illumination ceremony in Kings Square

At the ceremony join the big man himself, Father Christmas, the Mayor of Gloucester Cllr Kathy Williams, the President of Rotary Gloucester Chris Rawlins, and BBC Radio Gloucestershire as they lead us in the countdown to the illumination of the tree.

Every November and December, The Tree of Light shines brightly in at the entrance of Kings Square, Gloucester. First launched in 2011, this huge tree is adorned with thousands of lights, and has brought wonder and warmth to thousands of people, and is provided by Rotary Gloucester to help raise money for local good causes. Since its first year, the initiative has raised £86,000 for the local people of Gloucester and for local charities alike.

You can support the Tree of Light by leaving a message and making a small donation. Every penny counts and goes directly to support local causes.

The Tree of Light is just one part of the festivities on 18 Nov, with the biggest event being the Lantern Procession. Check out all the details for the rest of the Lantern Procession here.

Bright Nights Christmas Events are supported by Gloucester City Council and Gloucester BID.
